Peter Amundsen
Senior Clinical Psychologist (Consultant)
Bsc(Psych) Hons, MPsych(Prof), MPsych(Clin)
Peter works with adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, workplace stress, and life transitions, with a particular interest in men’s mental health. With experience in both hands-on and leadership roles across technical, trade, and high-pressure industries, he understands the demands of fast-paced work environments and the mental load that comes with them. His down-to-earth, practical approach helps clients develop the skills needed to manage stress, improve resilience, and work toward meaningful goals.
His work with men is guided by current research on men’s mental health, which highlights the benefits of an action-oriented, goal-focused approach. He recognizes that many men prefer structured strategies that lead to tangible outcomes, and he integrates this research-driven perspective into therapy. Understanding the unique challenges men often face—including societal expectations, emotional suppression, and work-life pressures—he helps clients develop practical tools for resilience, well-being, and long-term success. His work emphasizes problem-solving, skill development, and meaningful action, ensuring therapy feels relevant and applicable to daily life.
Using evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), he helps clients build psychological flexibility, manage stress, and develop coping strategies to navigate life’s challenges in meaningful ways. His approach fosters self-awareness, emotional control, and the ability to handle setbacks with confidence and adaptability.
For adults with ADHD, he offers tailored strategies to improve focus, impulsivity, and executive function, helping clients build structure and stay on top of responsibilities. He also supports individuals experiencing workplace anxiety, perfectionism, and career uncertainty, particularly those in leadership or high-stakes roles.
